Since the launch of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of heroes, and a exciting storyline showcasing celestial beings, demons, and dark forces expanding in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Revealing details for the third episode of this adventure follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
Episode 3 concluded with a huge suspense moment and presented the first table of adventurers who will split off from the main group to begin their separate journey, distinct from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table consists of Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
The Reason for Division
With an extensive roster, it was evident from the start that keeping everyone at one table would be impossible.
Hence, the initial installments of this story serve as an Introduction, connecting the individual narratives before splitting into three separate parties: Warriors, Schemers, and Explorers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
As described by the DM, the Soldiers table is for participants who prefer a typically action-packed battle-oriented narrative style where peaceful solutions are scarce.
At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander might appear out of place, but the actions of episode 3 make it clear why these five characters are best suited for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the group knows exactly where to go next after a brutal opening clash with the antagonists.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose death initiated the story’s plot—used the enemy for his selfish purposes, breaking into the secret base, striking Thimble, and taking all the powerful objects to sell off.
The antagonist then paid off his debts and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the urban center, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each character has a personal reason to exit the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and best friend, seeks vengeance.
- The adventurer has experience in the region and advises that it is a dangerous location.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having resisted his relatives’ demands to eliminate Teor and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- However, their position as prominent individuals in House Halovar could enable the group access places they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, The fighter pledged a unbreakable promise to The savior for his rescue and will now accompany him everywhere.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the authorities that govern the setting for a range of causes, making lingering locally dangerous:
- The rogue and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and The cleric betrayed the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- The target is wanted dead by the family.
This means them few options but to head to the remote area in search of Casimir.
Future Episodes
Based on the recent installment’s follow-up content, we find out that the Soldiers table will not appear the following episode, leaving the rest of the cast members to form the Questers and Schemers groups.
Fans can expect finding out which characters will be in which group in the season’s last Overture episode, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
